DØDSFERD is one of the most complex misanthropic metal bands ever to grace the planet. It doesn’t matter what you think of them. Love them or hate them, the band’s founder, Wrath does not care. He makes music on his own terms. With the release of their album Spitting With Hatred, The Insignificance Of Life, I try to unravel some of the mystery surrounding DØDSFERD and their music. Though the interview is short, and not much is elaborated on, it leaves me pondering the mind of Wrath. A tough shell to crack, he does enable some pieces of the mysterious puzzle to come together.

Sioux: Greetings. Let’s talk about the newest DØDSFERD album, Spitting With Hatred, The Insignificance Of Life. Are you satisfied with the recording? Care to elaborate on the album at all?
Wrath:
It’s ok! Next one will be better! I am never satisfied with anything at all! Spitting With Hatred, The Insignificance Of Life was a soul destroying album!!!! I hadn’t slept for days! I wanted to be everything in the exact way I had planned them in my mind! I didn’t want to compromise to something that it wouldn’t suit to my plans for this album! I don’t want to release albums that are far from my expectations!

Sioux: DØDSFERD seems to churn out albums quite frequently. A split and 2 full lengths in 2007, and a full length and/or EP following every year since. This year will see not only the Spitting With Hatred release, but also a live release? Is that correct. You must have a lot of creativity pent up inside?
Wrath:
In the end of May of 2011, Misanthropic Art released a live DØDSFERD album from the United Darkness Fest here in Greece in 2010 with Primordial, Destroyer 666 and Behexen and goes by the name Hammering Brutally Your Cross! The same label is going to release in the end of 2011 a split album with DØDSFERD and Nadiwrath! No one pressures me to write albums!

Sioux: DØDSFERD’s sound is unlike any other black metal band. The music seems to have elements of rock and punk mixed into it. Was this intentional and what were your influences?
Wrath:
When I compose my music I don’t have any special patterns to follow! My influences come from different kinds of music! Black, Doom, Post, Drown, Rock’n’Roll…I can do whatever I want without thinking if it would be welcome by others!

Sioux: Most of the lyrics for DØDSFERD tend to be incredibly misanthropic. What exactly inspires this hatred for life?
Wrath:
Look around you, and you will see a planet full of idiots, full of parasites that are trying to live by fucking others, by organizing in groups, masses! What life?

Sioux: I hear DØDSFERD is planning to tour the United States. Will this be your first time on US soil and what can we expect from your live performances?
Wrath:
We are going to make a mini tour in US. Three days of DØDSFERD misanthropy! It is planned in September of 2011! You will have to come and check by yourself!

Sioux: What is next for DØDSFERD besides touring?
Wrath:
As I mentioned before, after the DØDSFERD mini tour we are going to record some new tracks for the DØDSFERD/Nadiwrath split album. After that, in the beginning of 2012 I am going to record my new full length album! Also, in the end of 2011, Odious Recordings is going to release a DØDSFERD/Necronoclast 7” split EP!

Sioux: Thank you for your time, as a DØDSFERD fan; this was quite a treat to interview you. Any parting words you would like to add?
Wrath:
Thanks for your great interview! With Respect, Wrath from DØDSFERD!
