LIVIDITY are still total underground in Germany. But this should be changed with the new brutal masterpiece Used, Abused, And Left For The Dead. Bandleader Dave Kibler told us all that stuff all fans of brutal Death Metal must know!

Lividity

Jörn: Hi Dave! The new LIVIDITY CD is called Used, Abused, And Left For The Dead. And it¹s the most brutal record of your band so far. Would you agree with me?
Dave:
I would say you are correct brother! This latest disc is a speed freaks wet dream! Chock full of blazing razor riffs, thumping bass, chaotic hyper drumming, a barrage of vocal attacks.. This is a WAR anthem album for sure!! Slaughtering everything in it¹s path! We are all very pleased with the outcome of it! And again, throwing surprise at the listener who thought they had LIVIDITY as a predictable band!! I am so glad this material sounds this way... It¹s not a normal LIVIDITY formula, but at the same time, it‘s been a 4 year break in between albums and when we went to the studio we were pretty pent up with aggression and ready to get this slab of sickness out there to the masses!! With the new line up, also incorporates the other member’s attitudes and musical creativity as well!!

Jörn: So where did you record the new masterpiece and who produced it?
Dave:
We recorded near Chicago, Illinois at a friend’s studio (John Welborn) at Wormwood Studios! John recorded and produced the album! He has a great ear for metal music and really was a 5th member for us in the studio!! If something was a little funny he never hesitated to have us correct it, do it better, make it tighter, or he would do some of his magic on the board to correct something mechanically!! John is the man!!

Jörn: I guess in Germany you will get big problems because of this extreme front cover artwork. Did you have any problems with censorship in Germany or in any other country so far?
Dave:
No censorship yet!! We have had some stuff taken from the German police when sending packages to Germany!! They were sent back to us though, which was cool of them I guess! The Morbid Records release version of the CD has a slip censor cover for their distributing!! So the art is covered! We don¹t get messed with much, we are still underground!! No industries to market us in the face of the fascist pigs and such!! Haha...

Jörn: Let¹s talk about the lyrics. I guess you guys don¹t prefer any kind of political lyrics, haha. So what are your lyrics about?
Dave:
We try and write lyrics that are disturbing or vulgar, keep the shock value at high volume!! So the lyrics are extremely brutal acts of violence that we tell stories about using issues of serial murder, hate crimes, random acts of perverse and brutal beatings, killings and at times cannibalism and demented pleasures, like the song Bound In Skin is a piece on skinning the flesh from the victims and wearing the carcass sewn on to your face, chest and whatever!! Not much into the politics or religion side of lyrics in LIVIDITY!!

Jörn: The music of LIVIDITY is very extreme. What kinds of bands have influenced you as musicians?
Dave:
I have been in to metal music as early as 8 years old when I was buying bands like BLACK SABBATH Master Of Reality, IRON MAIDEN Killers, AC/DC Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap, KISS Rock And Roll Over... Got into the heavier side of things around age 15 with bands like SLAYER Hell Awaits, EXODUS Bonded By Blood, TESTAMENT The Legacy, METALLICA Ride The Lightening, JUDAS PRIEST Screaming For Vengeance, MOTORHEAD Iron Fist, MERCYFUL FATE Melissa, WHIPLASH Ticket To Mayhem, CELTIC FROST Morbid Tales, VENOM Black Metal, DEATH Scream Bloody Gore...
Age 20 or so I found the underground revolution that totally changed my life and then I was connected to bands on a personal level like INTERNAL BLEEDING, DYING FETUS, IMPETIGO, PESTILENCE, TORTURE KRYPT, CANNIBAL CORPSE, IMMOLATION, BRUJERIA, AUTOPSY, CIANIDE, CORPSEVOMIT, MACABRE, ADNAUSEAM, FLESHGRIND, PARALYSIS, GORGUTS, SUFFOCATION, and tons more... I have no real specific for an influence, I just take in and incorporate all the sounds I hear everyday into our music, a little grind, a little groove, blasting, double kicking and 100% underground!!

Jörn: You have a contract in the US with Epitomite Productions, but in Germany your records are released by Morbid Records. Is the deal with Morbid just a distribution deal or do you have different contracts for different countries?
Dave:
Epitomite Productions is our singer (Von Young) label! We released our own stuff to get better distribution than the previous album ³...Til Only The Sick Remain got from 2002!! So this was the final album for our 2 album deal with Morbid and we also worked out the deal with them to release ourselves!! The only differences in the 2 releases are that the Morbid version has 3 video clips on it from the 2005 FTC Fest in Germany we played!!

Jörn: You have started LIVIDITY back in 1993 as a one man project. When did you feel that LIVIDITY has to be a real band?
Dave:
I always strived to make LIVIDITY a real band! It took a little time to get the right people that surrounded me in my community to get into it enough to join up!! Tommy Davis played drums for our other band Section 8, and we would lock ourselves in his attic and right these short skits of songs that we would call LIVIDITY... We would pass them around, and then when Section 8 broke up we decided to pursue it as our next band adventure... And here I am still holding the torch high in honor of LIVIDITY!! I never knew it would blow up the way it did, but I feel we started things at the right time to get the right exposure and opportunities we get today!! Pretty cool!! So in 1995 is when Matt Bishop and Aaron Heath from local band Desecration (US) joined in when they broke up as well!!

Jörn: In Germany LIVIDITY is definitely a real underground act. So please tell our readers something about the current line up.
Dave:
The line up is Dave Kibler (guitar / backing vocals), Von Young (guitar / vocals), Chris Campbell (bass/ backing vocals), Garrett Scanlan (drums)... We acquired Garrett shortly after the Summer tour 2006 he did with us... He used to be the drummer for Corpsevomit out of Chicago!! So we are in the middle of writing new material, adding set list songs from the classics and keeping it tight for the upcoming shows and tour!! The underground is a brutal partnership with all the great metal heads especially the German area!! We have made Germany our home away from home, so we try and make it there with each visit!! The best beer, the sickest and coolest metal chicks, top notch bands with some of my favorites being.... BLOOD, HARMANY DIES, KADATH, PURGATORY, DEFEATED SANITY, COCK AND BALL TORTURE (OPUSSY), TORN APART, NECROPHAGIST, NECROTIC FLESH... So many more I need to put on here but you get the picture of who I support!!

Jörn: What about an european tour to promote Used... live on stage? Especially some shows in Germany and very especially one show in Hamburg would be goddamn great!!!
Dave:
At the moment it is still being set but we are going... Through September 2007... Check with the www.myspace.com/lividity for all the latest info and dates!! I am sure we will play a few shows in Germany and I do hope we play in Hamburg this time!! We stayed at a hotel there in 2003 when we flew in for that tour and started in a different city!! Maybe next time... We can¹t wait to get over there and crush the stage for you sick shits!! So... Stay tuned…

Jörn: Any last words?
Dave:
Thanx Jorn for the great support through the years, your help has been big for us!! Support the bands that support the scene!! Looking forward to the tour!! We will drink some beers!! We have new re-pressed shirts of It¹s Not About Satan... It¹s About Pussy with band photo on back, we also have 1 sided black t-shirts of just the band photo/logo and phrase... Purveyors Of Gore / Porn Lunacy. We have pay pal as well, so easy purchases!!!
