Behemoth
- Bonded By Blood - Dark Sermon - Enslaved - Exodus - Holy Moses
- Kampfar - Krisiun - Lock Up - Necronomicon (DE)
- Novembers Doom - Paradise Lost - Sodom - Soilwork - Vital Remains
Our time schedule
said that the Majesty Of The Seas was planned to sail at 5pm and
EXODUS should kick off at 5.30 pm. But as we learnt there
was a crane operator doing a long break so that the guys did not
get the pool stage on board on time. At the end everything got
delayed by an hour and eventually EXODUS played at the
same time the ship sailed. But I wanted to see both events…

So
I rushed down to the A Chorus Line Theater for a quick assignation
with :: EXODUS
:: to cheer them and to take some photos. Not that many
people down here and it seemed the Bay Area thrasher did not like
their kick-off role that much either. Okay, then first taking a
breath and then receiving the baggage…
Setlist: The Ballad Of Leonard and Charles, Beyond The
Pale, Children Of A Worthless God, Piranha, Deathamphetamine, Bonded
By Blood
The
break was short and time has come for ::
KAMPFAR ::
on the Spectrum Lounge stage. Sound is great, view and light not.
The stage is very small and the musicians stood in someone’s
way everywhere. Sorry, but I did not like this stage. The lounge
itself is nice, but not made for such kind of shows. But it did
not do any harm to the mood ;)
Setlist: Mare, Inferno, Troll, Død Og Trolldom,
Norse, Huldreland, Vettekult, Altergang, Ravenheart
While
I step down again to see :: SOILWORK
:: at the theater I hear something about food, dinner.
Okay, later, because SOILWORK just kick me out of my (invisible)
socks ;) Wow! What a highly energetic show. Asskicking! Especially
bass player Ola freaks totally out on stage and reminds me a bit
of Devin. Too cute ;) I was expecting to hear a new song from the
upcoming double album The Living Infinite, which is
set to be released on March 1, but I guess we still have to wait.
Amazing show!
Setlist: Follow The Hollow, Like An Average Stalker, Night
Comes Clean, Rejection Role, The Chainheart Machine, Let This River
Flow, Two Lives, As We Speak, Stabbing The Drama, Nerve // Bastard
Chain
Next
up is :: HOLY
MOSES :: on the small stage a leave aside. I can
catch the Germans on Thursday on the Pool Stage…
::
ENSLAVED ::
I’d never miss ;) The Norwegians surprise with an old school
set through the early days of the band. Yeah, awesome but somehow
did not set me on fire. Guess I'm still too much focused on Axioma
Ethica Odini ;) But the band had so extremely much fun on
stage that I could not help but rock the theater!
Setlist: Bounded By Allegiance, Convoys To Nothingness,
Ansuz Astral, As Fire Swept Clean The Earth, Fenris, Roots Of The
Mountain, Giants
Ah,
finally, the pool stage gets opened. It’s up to ::
SODOM ::
to burn stages first ;) And they do with a best-of set through 30
years of band history. We surely did not get a sensationally new
or an eccentric show or material, but is was definitely great! Ausgebombt
at the pool… that’s strange… ;)
Setlist: In War And Pieces, Sodomy And Lust, M-16, Outbreak
Of Evil, The Saw Is The Law, Nuclear Winter, Proselytism Real, The
Art Of Killing Poetry, I Am The War, City Of God, The Vice Of Killing,
Blasphemer, Sodomized, Agent Orange, Burst Command 'Til War, Ausgebombt,
Wachturm, Remember The Fallen, Bombenhagel
::
NOVEMBERS
DOOM :: unfortunately play at the same time. Never
mind… Thursday…
Down
to the theater to adore :: BEHEMOTH
:: And here it gets clear that the Polish black metallers
are one of the most popular bands out there. The theater is crowded
now and the fans enthusiastic. BEHEMOTH once again play an
extremely powerful and intensive show, through and through perfect
but never boring (except for the lights). Definitely the first highlight
of the evening!
Right
after I decide to ignore the Spectrum Lounge completely as I get
the bands on other stages to see too. It is too much hassle and
bustle with overlapping times and such. I am actually on (full paid)
holidays. So I missed BONDED BY BLOOD, NECRONOMICON,
VITAL REMAINS and DARK SERMON. But just for today…
Okay,
Behemoth the first highlight… I did not expect anything less
when :: PARADISE
LOST :: entered the pool stage. But the Brits could
not halfway tie up. Here it happened that PARADISE LOST just
played in front of 75 fans with some more up and around. Mood was
not any great and the setlist did not offer any surprising moments.
What a pity.
Setlist: Enchantment, Honesty In Death, Tragic Idol, Forever
Failure, One Second, Embers Fire, As I Die, Fear Of Impending Hell,
Faith Divides Us - Death Unites Us, Say Just Words
It
looks much better when :: LOCK
UP :: jump on stage. But only in the first 3 rows,
behind there is just free room. Where are all the people? For sure
not 3 levels higher at the Spectrum Lounge? Before LOCK UP
actually start playing there is a funny banter between Exodus’
Rob Dukes in the crowd and Shane Embury on stage. But it wasn’t
clear if Shane enjoyed the talk the same way as Rob did. LOCK
UP anyway just left scorched earth, so to say, rocking the theater.
Tomas Lindberg is in top form, drummer Nick Barker not. As it was
said, he had some difficulties with the noticeable sea disturbance…
My
last band for tonight… um… morning… is ::
KRISIUN
:: It is 3 or 4 am and there are just a few warriors
still awake. But those ones enthusiastically cheers and celebrate
the Brazilian death metallers :)
Okay, I am now really tired, my feet hurt and I totally forgot to
eat something… good night, good fight… See ya tomorrow.
