Satyricon - Unleashed - Misery Index - Thyrfing - Hate Eternal - Evocation - Swallow The Sun - Den Saakaldte - Solstafir - Inhume - Krabak - Summers Dying

[Dajana] Sun raises quickly creeping over the mountains tops and touching us with her fingers relentlessly. 8.30am and the “night” is over. Tent heats up in a twinkling of an eye and pushes us out of the sleeping bags. No headaches, no hangover ;) Ok, time to have a shower. Back at tent we already feel like that we need a shower again… Might be a hot day again. We indulge in a proper breakfast and write down first headwords. Afterwards sun forces us to desperately look for shadows. I find one under my car… and started dozing till 1pm.
[Claudia] *groans*… night was way too short. And with the hot tent you only can stand up. There was not much water coming out of the shower but it was ok for refreshment. Besides, everybody was best advised in finding shadows and doing nothing. But I don’t wanna nag about the weather; just remember the mud-wrestling in 2007…

:: pics ::

[Dajana] On time we show up cherishing the opening band :: SUMMERS DYING :: Never heard of them before. Program says it’s Death/Thrash Metal…Corpse-painted Death metallers? With a strong Black Metal touch ;) Music I found much varied and the guys left e good impression.
[Claudia] Hailing from Weimar it was a home match for SUMMERS DYING. As for me perfect music to start the second festival day with and to get awake ;)

[Dajana] Afterwards a little change in the line-up appeared. Instead of Glorior Belli, who already were a replacement, now :: GRABAK :: entered the stage. Seems like Glorior Belli’s mainman lost all his band members prior the PARTY.SAN. Anyway, we got still Black Metal and GRABAK did a really good job. Much more I got the feeling that the guys are huge fans of Immortal ;) I just missed some special “dance patterns” in the singer’s performance *laughs*
[Claudia] *laughs* Yeah, GRABAK are pretty cuddly ;)

[Dajana] Another anniversary... :: INHUME :: celebrate their 15th anniversary. In their gushy mood INHUME started partying with 199 Grindcore ballads. Said Dorus: “…because our drummer is so tired and beside we also grow older…” Hahahahaha… The Dutch guys start 10 minutes too early and even finish much earlier and in between? 15 YEARS OF SONIC VIOLENCE! What a massacre ;)
[Claudia] Hell-Yeah! INHUME indeed delivered a fine Grindcore massacre and so a worthy anniversary party. I especially liked the alternating two singers, one for growling duties the other one for the screams.

[Dajana] Oh, finally… the snapping squad gets now full 2 or 3 songs to take photos… according to the securities discretion…*coughs slightly*

[Dajana] It has been a while since I saw my favorite band from Iceland playing live. And I and :: SÓLSTAFIR :: missed Wiebke :( 3 Songs filled the entire running time of 45 minutes. And that have been 45 minutes of atmosphere and pure emotions, 45 minutes of gooseflesh! Mesmerizing, captivation, just fucking awesome!
[Claudia] It was my first SÓLSTAFIR show and I have to say I was deeply impressed. Their mix of Black Metal/Pagan/Psychedelic Rock caused gooseflesh at many fans, despite the summerlike heat. The first highlight on Friday!
Setlist: Köld, Pale Rider, Ritual Of Fire

[Dajana] Suicidal Black Metal the first. The project :: DEN SAAKALDTE :: of mastermind Sykelig grew to a real band and already released its debut All Hail Pessimism. The band now gets fronted by Shinings Kvarforth who strolls over the stage in best mood and with a bottle of JB. Two hours ago he told us that he still doesn’t know the lyrics. Ok… not much time left now and especially not to waste it with learning lyrics *laughs* On stage there is nothing to notice. But who knows, I at least don’t speak any Norwegian ;) Seems like Kvarforth knows how to improvise ;) His band mates look way more skeptical, looking at him all the time in anticipation of… of what actually? Probably nothing good judging from their facial expressions *lol* Every now and then Kvarforth lapses into classic Shining posing but generally speaking he holds off himself pretty much. Ok, he pukes on stage an gives a bird to the audience and descends on „fucking idiots in the back“ verbally…
All in all a great show, I really like the music and DEN SAAKALDTE get amazingly received by the fans, followed by a tumultuary crowd during the band’s signing session.
[Claudia] DEN SAAKALDTE is such kind of band I cannot do anything with. But I found the show quite entertaining ;) Most funny thing was when Kvarforth took off his shirt, revealing his belly where he had written on it: “you are all wankers”… in German of course *lol*
[Dajana] Hahaha… yeah, that’s something he got whispered 2 hrs ago at our table *lol* And actually he should have written “I’m a little wanker”, or even better “I’m a little slicer”…
Setlist: Drikke Ens Skål, Vandringen, Samma Skrot, Samma Korn, 4.La Vinteren Vare Evig, Mesias

[Dajana] And again it was time for some confusion ;) According the running order Evocation were about to enter the stage but instead :: SWALLOW THE SUN :: got their equipment on it. Short inquiry to the off… Evocations got stuck in jams and were too late so that organizers changed the band’s slots. Gooseflesh causing Twin Peaks intro led over to These Hours I Despair and SWALLOW THE SUN started to rock the PARTY.SAN. Second track was already a classic (Out Of This Gloomy Light) that had its desired effect. Ok, there were a lot of people that couldn’t do anything with this band and I have to confess, a SWALLOW THE SUN works best in a dark indoor location, but I loved this show ;) The Finns will release a new album in November entitled Blue Moon and the fans at PARTY.SAN could enjoy the first song and future opening track from this record entitled These Woods Breathe Evil. Fans might be surprised by this record ;)
[Claudia] Instead of Swedish Death Metal first music to enjoy and relax ;) SWALLOW THE SUN delivered a great show, although they had to start earlier. Very likeable band. Both thumbs up!
Setlist: These Hours I Despair, Out Of This Gloomy Light, Too Cold For Tears, These Woods Breathe Evil

[Claudia] The guys from :: EVOCATION :: right after were much motivated, especially singer Thomas Josefsson was a real bundle of energy. With words like “my balls are on fire” he said thank you for the enthusiastic crowd response and perfectly led over to my favorite song Feed The Fire. Old School Swedish Death Metal rules!!!

[Dajana] More old school stuff. This time from the States. Mr Erik Ruttan of :: HATE ETERNAL :: celebrates Death Metal with a certain Grindcore touch.
[Claudia] HATE ETERNAL caused some knots in the aural canals ;) Brutal and technical Death Metal left the fans with open mouths. It was a real pleasure to watch Mr. Sympathy Ruttan and his mates maltreating the fretboards. Intense show!
[Dajana] The stage was a bit too huge for this trio, the guys got almost lost. Especially since Erik was kinda nailed behind his micro. So there was that much going on on stage. Never mind! Eyes closed and headbanged! ;)

[Dajana] Man, to see :: THYRFING :: playing live again I was much looking for. Their show at Ragnarök truly me blew away. And with ens Rydén in front of the stage the Swedes only can win! He is such a great frontman and every show a true highlight. Unbelievably intense and under the skin going. Luckily, THYRFING don’t make themselves too scarce. Those, who couldn’t see them here get the next chance at Wolfzeit festival and later in December at Eindhoven Metal Meeting. Just great, great and… great! ;)
Setlist: The Voyager, En Sista Litania, Från Stormens Öga, Far Åt Helvete, Griftefid, The Giant's Laughter, Digerdöden

:: MISERY INDEX :: are the next on stage and already the third part of the Summer Seek & Destroy Tour. Haven’t seen the Baltimore-guys for a while. I still remember their show at Turock in Essen. Must have been years ago. Since then… Sparky’s hair and beard wasn’t cut it seems ;) He looks wild ;) However, I love him; he once played in Fear Of God… hehehe. And MISERY INDEX played another great show. Well, I didn’t expect less, you have the half (ex) Dying Fetus crew on here ;)

20 Jahre Death Metal Victory!!!
[Claudia] The warriors of :: UNLEASHED :: were awaited eagerly, not only from me ;) With the intro fans already chanted UNLEASHED, UNLEASHED. The Swedes kicked off their set with the opening track of their current album Hammer Battalion. Singer Johnny was in best mood and heated up the crowd with his announcements. And again UNLEASHED chants in between. Also sing-along-games worked out fine (In Victory Or Defeat). UNLEASHED played a best-of set with a few new songs, raised the horns and gave a beer shower. They closed with Death Metal Victory, the classic per se at the end of the encore. In this spirit: "The hammer has been raised! Join the Hammer Battalion!"
Setlist: The Greatest Of All Lies, In Victory Or Defeat, Your Children Will Burn, Into Glory Ride, This Is Our World Now, Winterland, Hammer Battalion, Midvinterblot, To Asgaard We Fly, Death Metal Victory

[Dajana] Moshpits... moshpits from the right to the moshpits to the left... down to the moshpits and up to the moshpits…erm… I’d say… Satyr was totally trashed. He not only saw moshpits everywhere, but also 20.000 people in front of the stage *coughs* Means, he saw everybody at least doubled… *lol* And because :: SATYRICON :: are such rockstars, they delayed their appearance for an half hour. Party tent I see ya dying… *hmpf* Setlist was the same at Forta Rock and every other festival they played. More drivel (or slurred speech?) by Satyr who tried to hold back the people from the party tent. Their fault! Why did they dawdle that long? Unleashed left an enthused crowd… Energy is off now and fans don’t wanna start moshpits anymore. Satyr talks large when announcing Den Siste while a voice from the off screams: “Play Mother North you asshole!” Everybody around bursts for laughing. Luckily the band’s set is short. They started too late but finished earlier *lol* The show was uninspired and artificial. Moshpits... I wanna see a moshpit on the right and a moshpit to the left... yes, of course. Ciao
Setlist: Commando, The Wolfpack, Now, Diabolical, Forhekset, Black Crow On A Tombstone, The Pentagram Burns, Den Siste, K.I.N.G., Fuel For Hatred, Mother North

[Dajana] So, work is done, the cam kept safe. It’s party time. And tonight as far as it will go ;)
