Welcome to the public rehearsal of TRIPTYKON
Expect the unexpected. This time not that clandestinely as it was in 2010. Back the TRIPTYKON played kind of a warm-up show at :: Zeche Carl ::, what for, nobody knew, but we had guesses. However, in 2016 TRIPTYKON officially announced two warm-up gigs for their big show at Wacken Open Air and one of those two once again took place at Zeche Carl in Essen. Seems the guys like this venue.

The Triptykon show itself was already a must-be-there event but definitely got its icing on the cake by the announcement of darksome and nasty :: VALBORG :: as local support that night. Dark, darker, pitch black darkness. There couldn’t be any better package.
VALBORG has a new look, kind of, short hair everywhere ;) I’m still undecided if the guys now look younger and fresher or grown up and serious. Well, it actually doesn’t matter, does it?
At this chance VALBORG present their new album, Endstrand, they played most of the songs from. Recording sessions are finished, now Endstrand awaits its release. The new songs got mixed with two classics from Barbarian and Glorification Of Pain. Fucking killer! Total destruction! I like the new songs. They are a bit faster. I would have loved more lights on stage. Yeah, I know, atmosphere and stuff… but, you know, photography and stuff ;) This was an awesome show! VALBORG truly rules!
Setlist: Astral Kingdom, Ich bin total, Eerie And Old, Plasmabrand, Stossfront, Tempelberg, Werwolf, Atompetze, Strahlung

The change-over reveals a new stage setting for :: TRIPTYKON ::. Too bad the stage at Zeche Carl was too small for the whole setup. If you have seen the WOA live stream on TV or the WOA pics on the TRIPTYKON facebook page, you know what I mean. For us only the t-crosses were set up. But looked good too.
Tom G. Warrior is in high spirits, his mates too, he likes to talk and to joke, addresses some tart sayings towards the Wacken Open Air and scored with it.
Surprisingly most songs of the TRIPTYKON set were Celtic Frost covers, which let every fan’s heart beat faster. To even top it, TRIPTYKON brought Simone Vollenweider on stage, who already sang on the old Frost records and tonight lent her voice to Obscured and - attention live premiere! - Boleskine House. Woah, how freaking awesome! That went under my skin. The venue is really well-filled (although there dozens of shows and festivals around) and the crowd started to be all excited. At the end the crowd demanded full-throated for more. Unfortunately, our desire was left unheard. Too bad. Well, I understand, it was “just” a rehearsal and the band had to get their stuff together quickly and to head towards Wacken. Anyway, thank you TRIPTIKON and VALBORG for an awesome concert night. It was a real pleasure to get darkened again ;)
