Dear readers,
I am really glad that the predecessor got the rating of “only” 9 points from my side, because apparently I had a premonition of what would follow! The present conceptual work Partum Vita Mortem impresses through technical abilities, richness in variation and melodies as well as numerous ear candy refrains without using a touch of gluey catchiness.
I appreciate the driving drums since the debut EP So It Begins and this stylistic device shows up during the introducing piece Conception, which passes on to I, Architect; my blood is stirred up by squirrely rhythms and the Australian band comes up with egregious melody lines in addition to harmonious keyboard attachments. Concerning the vocals, I can find much alternation, whereby growls offer the bigger part combined with a good deal of excellent clear vocals right in time.
Besides all force and juvenile urge for speed, the quintet does not at all forget about borne sequences and integrates them felicitously. Sometimes, unloading instrumental parts come into operation, but the band stops the technical baubleries at the right time.
Pure, heart-warming and refreshing metal stands in the foreground and the guys offer restrained electronic approaches, calm piano parts or variations in speed in the midst of the song’s flow.
Talking about music, I like to get addicted by outstanding refrains and I want to mention Karma Favours The Weak or the ingenious tune Beacons as examples for palmary Melodic Death Metal. Larger-than-life melody runs as well as a decent drive push the tracks forward and the musicians definitely know about the point in time to vary the speed in easy-going manner. I also appreciate the reluctant style of Echoes Through Infinity or the aggressive double bass in course of Revel In Oblivion to show the wide range of celerity on this oeuvre.
Finally, full score is unavoidable, because of the fine intuition to create suspenseful and harmonious tracks, which contain everything a fan of melodic and powerful music desires.
My rating: two clenched fists and ten points for ORPHEUS OMEGA!
