Leo: Hi Sergey! How would you describe the music of INEXIST to a person not knowing your style?
Sergey Bredis:
At first, Hello! Music of INEXIST is based on Swedish Melodic Death Metal and bands such as In flames, Soilwork, Arch Enemy and so on. That is perfectly shown by our music. But we have a lot of elements and innovations from other styles of metal. Also we have some traditions in music like an Acoustic medley instrumental song, which performs in each album. We are open minded people for specific experiments like an electronic part, some rap in vocals or maybe remixes in future. Our music is not very inventive, but we have something energetic, wild, sensitive and positive at the time! That is why we called our style as Melodic Fashion Death Metal.

Leo: When was INEXIST founded and by whom?
Sergey:
I was a vocalist in symphonic-black metal band since autumn 2000 , but I felt that I need to form my own band in melodic death style. It was a start for INEXIST, which was founded in summer 2001 when I met young guitarist Alexey “Pepper” Korovkin. He was only 15 years old and his guitar technique was excellent! The third man who joined the band was my brother Anton “Tepesh” Khomenko. This was the beginning of the band and I chose the name- INEXIST, which translates how Inner Existence.

Leo: What are your musical influences?
Sergey:
My musical taste spreads from classics and dark wave-ambient music till most aggressive and brutal styles. But the favourite is melodic death in its new wave and some nu-and-modern metal bands. Here is some names: In flames, Soilwork, Mnemic, Meshuggah, Dimension Zero, Dark Tranquillity, Anathema, Slipknot, Stone Sour, Helloween Gamma Ray and their projects, Edguy, Nightwish, Athena, Therion, Amorphis, Satriani, Vai, Malmsteen, Children of Bodom , Warmen, Pink Ployd, Rainbow and so on ,and on

Leo: Was it easy to get Metal LPs when you were a kid?
Sergey:
I think it was not. My elder brother in 80’s was fan of Scorpions, Pink Floyd, Accept, Helloween and Iron Maiden. As I remember, he always had LPs of these bands in his collection, but I don’t know if it was easy for him to get this LPs.

Leo: How expensive is a CD in Russia?
Sergey:
We’ve some new labels here in Russia which release licensed CD’s from whole world by specific price for Russia and CIS states. It costs 4-6 USD. You also could find firm CD’s on 15 USD. It starts hard to find a piracy CD, because nobody needs them.

Leo: Can we look forward to a new album in the near future?
Sergey:
Yes! There are already prepared 6-7 new songs. And we gonna write one more hit and a few songs for next album. I think, we’ll start to record this album sometimes in spring, if all goes as we planned.

Leo: What about the scene in Russia?
Sergey:
Scene in Russia develops on a high tempo. But we’ve got here some serious problems. At first, it is not always good quality of recordings. Additionally it is secondary and lately material and music of Russian bands. We have some problems with English lyrics and spelling. But the main problem is absence of musical business and investment in it. But we have a lot of interesting and inventive bands here, which have something new in music for Europeans.

Leo: Can you recommend some other metal bands from your home country?
Sergey:

Leo: Are there some good studios in Russia for heavy metal?
