The
FULL OF HATE festival is the first Metal event in the Messehalle
                – and therefore I was looking forward to the location’s
flair as well as the sound aspect. It was quite funny that the
fans could reach the location with an escalator?. Directly in
front of the hall, some white clothed tables conjured a smile
on my face, reminding me rather of a Fête Blanche than a
metal concert. In further course of this evening, I got many reasons
to be fully content: the concert promoters thought about the schedule,
because felicitous alternation dominated the program: optional
one portion of Black-, Thrash- as well as Death Metal guaranteed
                a few entertaining hours.

              KEEP OF
                KALESSIN – complex catchiness
                :: KEEP
OF KALESSIN :: started with a very good sound and
from the first second on they made clear that Black Metal can
contain a lot of fun: progressive, technical, slightly aslope,
weird, extravagant, complex, sensitive, impelling, monumental,
passionate or melodic are just a few attributes for the partly
unloading compositions. Thereby the artist managed to integrate
catchy parts besides all power and passion in playing. Consequently
the visitors had the choice, either to celebrate the music with
ecstatic moves (the minority did so) or to concentrate on the
neck-breaking arrangements (all the others :)). Among the very
nice songs, the title track of the latest effort named Kolossus
was outstanding. Unfortunately the show lasted too short…in
addition I want to thank the musicians for their intense performance,
avoiding very evil Black Metal posing; the music had an sweeping
                effect without overacting – gorgeous!

              LEGION
OF THE DAMNED – continuous aggression is monotonous on a
                continuing basis
After this complexity, the music of ::
                LEGION
OF THE DAMNED :: sounded quite simple, the Thrashers
set their focus on very catchy compositions – unfortunately
this catchiness seemed to be slightly boring later on. The introducing
words for the track Slaughtering The Pigs did not lack
of a certain humor, because of the question “Are you aggressive?”
The term aggressive is very important for the straight music and
neck breakers like Werewolf Corpse or the double strike
Son Of The Jackal and Cult Of The Dead included
a lot of joy in playing and power. Unfortunately the best composition
in the band’s repertoire was missing, namely Into The
Eye Of The Storm, but it seemed that this moderately fast
song did not fit in the set list and the hyper aggressive show?
Maybe the group is able to alternate the songs a little bit on
the next album, so the remembrance of a just nice concert without
any surprising moments stays in my mind.
Setlist: Intro, Pray And Suffer, Werewolf Corpse, House
Of Possession, Son Of The Jackal, Cult Of The Dead, Slaughtering
The Pigs & Diabolist, Bleed For Me, Legion Of The Damned,
                The Final Godsend

              AMON AMARTH
                – Victorious March Under The Northern Star
Twilight Of The Thunder God is a very felicitous
                album. :: AMON
AMARTH :: is a very good live act. Consequently
it was clear that the band would win over the auditorium in Graz
after a few moments. Johan Hegg and his companions offered the
title track as opener, some more classics like Asator or
the new live hymn Guardians Of Asgaard guaranteed for a
very good mood. For me the quite rarely played song Under The
Northern Star was the atmospheric highlight; afterwards AMON
AMARTH presented the inevitable all time anthems Death
In Fire and Victorious March - with these two smashers
(among others) the band reached the Death Metal champions league
in nimble manner. For sure the musicians cared for a lot of action
on stage, synchronous head-banging was offered a few times and
despite all noticeable routine all visitors could still see a
lot of fun in the artists’ faces. Sometimes the reactions
in the auditorium caused a smile in the play of features. The
catchy Pursuit Of Vikings marked the final bouncer of a
felicitous concert, which took the advantages of the stylistic
bandwidth in Metal music in skilful way. I am looking forward
to more concerts of similar build-up in the future!
Setlist: Twilight Of The Thunder God, Free Will Sacrifice,

                The Blackbirds, Pursuit Of Vikings
