An
amazingly great band takes me on an amazingly awesome journey
on their tour finale that leads me to the •
KuFa
• in Krefeld: ARCHIVE! They actually toured
already through Germany last November but I wasn’t able
to join them at this time (by the way, also with ROBIN FOSTER
as support act). Now I surprisingly got the chance to make up
for what I missed. Thank you! :)

Support act
:: ROBIN
FOSTER :: was totally unknown to me. Knowing about
this tour I also had no time to check him out before. Damn, I
definitely missed something really special! This man, a Brit living
in France, and of course his band mates (Gaeton Fagot (guitar),
Hikit Corbel (bass), Steven Prigent (keys) und Hibu Corbel (drums))
downright mesmerize with stunning instrumental Post Rock. To give
a hint put Mogwai, Godspeed You Black Emperor! and Radiohead together.
Besides, Mr. FOSTER seems also to be a huge fan of Elvis,
as he started with an intro of the King of Rock’n’Roll
and had Elvis figures standing on the effect board and the amp
;) Musically he mainly presented songs from his both first records
Life Is Elsewhere (2008) and Where Do We
Go From Here? (2011), but also one brand new song entitled
Finis Terrae from the upcoming masterpiece PenInsular
(just listen to the first album trailer). Just wonderful *sighs*.
For the song Forgiveness Archive singer Dave Pen entered
the stage to perform, while the finale Save The Cheerleader
saw Archive drummer Smiley getting into a breathtaking drum duel
with Hibu Corbel (who visibly had a blast on stage). Not to mention
that the applause for both performances was frenetic. Well, you
might already have gotten it: I was blown away by this show ;)
What a great band! So, if you are into that kind of Post Rock,
Ambient, and also soundtracks you should definitely check out
ROBIN FOSTER!
Setlist: Loop, Last Exit - Brest By Night, Finis Terrae,
This Is Not An Exit/Pen Had, Forgiveness, Save The Cheerleader

I tell you,
now it gets even worse *laughs* At the end you will meet a totally
overwhelmed Dajana, speechless with excitement and bursting with
enthusiasm. I totally fell in love with ::
ARCHIVE
:: So!
To be honest, I didn’t know that much about ARCHIVE
before. I knew a few songs and one or two videos, that’s
all: I never dealt any closer with them but often got told that
ARCHIVE is one of the best live bands ever. Well, that
I can agree 100 pro! :) This London based band is more a collective
than a real band with many (gifted) musicians taking part where
they are needed or wanted. It reminds me of Crippled Black Phoenix.
Musically ARCHIVE once started as a Trip Hop band but nowadays
is a fusion of many styles, genres and influences. ARCHIVE’s
music gives you an eargasm. It’s like an explosion of your
(aural) senses. And live… ladies & gentlemen, live ARCHIVE
rock the house down to earth I tell ya! This is pure passion,
dedication, pure talent and skills and pure energy. I love ARCHIVE!
Setlist: Finding It So Hard, Wiped Out, System, Hatchet,
Stick Me In My Heart, Conflict, Violently, Kings Of Speed, Fuck
U, Interlace, Bullets // You Make Me Feel, Words On Signs, Dangervisit

What a great
evening. What musical revelation! It’s more than just being
stunned, enthused and blown away. And in that business that does
not happen to me that often anymore. Now I have to go and buy
many CDs…
