This morning was meant to get us out of bed early. At 7am the Majesty Of The Seas called at the port of Nassau, the capitol of the Bahamas. At 8 am we are allowed to leave the boat to discover the Caribbean isle New Providence. I have to confess my feet hurt a lot from 2 days of constant movement between the stages and other locations and Nassau itself was rather disappointing as a city. At felt 40°C/100°F and without further plans for activities (mistake, next time I will plan things better) I am back on the boat early afternoon already and use the time for postcards, photos, sun and rest…

:: pics ::

At this point let me mention that :: NACHTMYSTIUM :: was the only band that did not manage to embark on the boat completely. It was said that the missing guitarist would be flew in. I actually don’t know if that worked out. NACHTMYSTIUM anyway did not play. As rumor has it… it was the absence of partying singer Blake Judd who made the show not happen.

A few excitements later the Majesty Of The Seas casts off again and it is show time. :: MONSTROSITY :: are the first on the pool stage. Their show got postponed from Monday night to Wednesday evening due to the delay in Miami. And I think it was a good idea and definitely an advantage for the band. Metal heads appeared numerous and created a great atmosphere. Ok, their brand of Florida Death Metal does not make it difficult to get access to ;)

Afterwards I again make an exception regarding the Spectrum Lounge. Next up are :: MORGOTH :: and I don’t want to miss them. It is crowded and the feedback by the audience lively. I agree it an intimate atmosphere here, with close interaction between band and fans. MORGOTH have changed their setlist, which is great and fans are enthused.
Setlist: Body Count, Exit To Temptation, Unreal Imagination, Resistance, Suffer Life, Sold Baptism, Under The Surface, White Gallery // Isolated

Upstairs :: NAPALM DEATH :: get prepared for their second strike. Here I got the feeling that we got the same show, same setlist, same announcements and same rants as on the day before. Only difference was the appearance of guest singers on stage.

:: PARADISE LOST :: I dignify with a flying visit only. Just a few songs, without the camera. Dinner time.

When it is up to :: SANCTUARY :: I of course appear on time and fully attentive ;) The band is in significant better condition today (seems like they thankfully did not get lost in Nassau’s Rum grottos) and Warrel Dane is much more talkative, and much wittier ;) Setlist is more or less the same BUT… this time we get 2 (TWO) new songs (Wired and Low) plus the announcement that SANCTUARY have finished recording a new album, entitled The Year The Sun Died, set to be released in spring. Wow. Great news and I’m much curious. What struck me first, as far as one can say it at just two songs, Warrel Dane cut out any high-pitched singing. Well, let’s see. Ah, damn, need to remember the “Danechanger” thingy…
Setlist: Die For My Sins, Seasons Of Destruction, Future Tense, Battle Angels, White Rabbit, The Mirror Black, Soldiers Of Steel, Sanctuary, Wired (new), Taste Revenge, Low (new)

And again :: AT THE GATES :: down in the theater. Almost the same setlist, same great show, same great fun watching them. Hey, what about a show tomorrow guys?
Setlist: Intro, Suicide Nation, Slaughter Of The Soul, Cold, Terminal Spirit Disease, Raped By The Light Of Christ, Under A Serpent Sun, Windows, World Of Lies, The Burning Darkness, The Swarm, Nausea, The Beautiful Wound, Unto Others, All Life Ends, Outro // Blinded By Fear, Kingdom Gone

Oh yes. :: MOONSPELL :: the second. On the main stage. This time without the Alpha Noir helmet and with a different setlist, focusing on newer material but not without the classics. Hell yeah! Again I’m blown. Over the moon. Under a shining (half)moon ;) A band, a show to kneel down for.
Setlist: In And Above Man, From Lowering Skies, Finisterra, Night Eternal, Opium, Mephisto, Opera Carne, Grandstand, Alma Mater, Full Moon Madness

The light of my energy storages flashes and signalize a low level. But it is still enough for :: MUNICIPAL WASTE :: the American counterpart of Napalm Death. Just the Thrash Metal way. The Richmond guys noticeable focus on their 2005 killer album Hazardous Mutation, and, corresponding to the board slogan, on The Art Of Partying. Also here guest singers as Barney Greenway and Tompa appear on stage sharing the micro, while the band totally plays itself into the ground.
I already had the pleasure to see MUNICIPAL WASTE live, in a small living room like club ;) But even there someone came up with a shark-painted surfboard at Terror Shark. Tonight there was no one, although it would have fitted much better ;) On the other hand… the thing with the crowd surfer did not work at all on this cruise. Maybe someone should give the security some private lessons to learn how it works best. Instead of catching surfing fans and let them go again through the photopit, securities pushed them back into the masses, upon the heads of the other fans. No, no , no guys… you have to do it differently.
Setlist: Mind Eraser, Headbanger Face Rip, Terror Shark, You're Cut Off, Beer Pressure, Thrashing Is My Bizz, Deathripper, Wolves Of Chernobyl, The Thrashin' Of The Christ, Black Ice/ The Monster With 21 Faces/ The Inebriator, Wrong Answer, Unleash The Bastards, Born To Party

:: KAMPFAR :: follows, also on the main stage. But again just a flying visit without cam.

So, those who think now that Mrs Dajana would, totally knackered, fall into her bed and sleep… NO WAY! Instead I got much nonsense in my head. First I try an… um… aesthetic photo session on the floor down on Deck 4. Another spontaneous impulse leads me to the Karaoke bar, where many cocktails were waiting to get emptied, while the one or the other (musician) tries its talents as singer. Hahahaha. With some… erm… interesting surprises. That’s not enough. I got urged on more… nonsense. Bikini on and out to the pool under a dark sky and heavy rain for our own private cannonball contest (Wiebke and me). Nobody out there, only staff, but for us they even switch the music on again ;) Afterwards we wanna get the early bird breakfast, which emerges to be just hot coffee. Ok, then bed…
