“So
take a look at me now, oh there's just an empty space. And there's
nothing left here to remind me, just the memory of your face…”
Buuhuuu… What’s the deal with Phil Collins on the
DEATH ANGEL - MERCENARY - DEMOLITION and EXTREMA
trek? Well… this song is essential *lol* Almost… At
least on this second day of that tour. Anyway, most of the band
members were fervently singing this song and swinging thru the
N8
club ;) Hardly to believe, but it’s true, I tell ya *laughing*
The gangs were stuffed in the smaller hall of N8, which was at
first not the worst idea, since the clear number of attendees
left much room to move. For the bands it wasn’t that great,
because the guys had to share a very small stage, much limiting
the radius of movement.

Slightly belated
and bathed in a blunt red light :: EXTREMA
:: kicked off. Wasn’t an easy task for the Italian
charmers to shake the handful of peeps up. And I guess it was
quite strange for them to play as an opener on such a tour in
front a minimum crowd, pasting at the bar. In Italy EXTREMA
are quite known, open for Metallica or rock around 20.000 metal
heads at Gods Of Metal festival. Ok, never mind, they tried their
best, presenting an aggressive blend of Thrash, Hardcore and some
Alternative, and finally, a few fearnaughts came closer and started
moshing. I liked the voice of GL Perotti that has a certain touch
of the old Grunge heroes. Generally speaking not bad, but kinda
tame. And… they didn’t play any new song, just material
from Set The World On Fire record, which is almost
3 years old. So, come on guys and hurry up with something new!
Setlist: New World Disorder, Second Coming, Displaced,
Confusion, All Around, Nature, Lawyers Inc.
Completely
different it turned out when :: DEMOLITION
:: entered the stage. In the beginning of the year
these Austrian gents have released an extremely asskicking record
entitled Relict IV that was close to be our album
of the month in January. As on the record, they opened with Reborn/Re-Failed,
followed by one of the album highlights Deconstructed World.
Full broadside of Thrash Metal, with a groove one cannot elude.
And here, especially when performing live, one will get aware
of the quantum jump forward the band made with its new record.
It doesn’t mean that Existence was a bad record,
but Relict IV reaches a new level of power, heaviness
and groove, displaying matured and improved songwriting skills
and arrangements. Yep, the lads around were much more pleased
now filling step by step the venue. Four songs from the new album
got played, ensuring an ongoing moshpit. Too bad 2 tracks from
the set had to be deleted coz of the time. However, the band definitely
enjoyed what was going on, and so the crowd did, warming up and
paying deserved tribute. DEMOLITIONs eye catcher surely
has to be second guitarist Janos, who is the perfect entertainer
on stage, pulling faces and posing as fuck. Oh, and as I just
realize… he is one half of Resurrecturis, a band I found
pretty cool back in the times. Thanks guys for the fucking great
show, I truly enjoyed. Wanna have more of this ;)
Setlist: Reborn/Re-Failed, Deconstructed World, The
Fortress, Third Of Nine, Over Nails, I Am Terror, Holy Hostage

:: MERCENARY
:: is just saw playing live in support of Megadeth
in February, where they didn’t have a good show. An uncomfortable
location, some chaos, bad sound and voice probs of the singer
made this show not that much enjoyable. Tonight, everything went
down much better. Band was in best mood, Mikkel Sandager tweeting
like a bird, being perfectly supplemented voice-like by 4-stringer
Rene. Also MERCENARY have just released a new album entitled
Architect Of Lies, most of the songs where coming
from tonight. The club was now much crowded, as it was on stage,
with a keyboard + player squeezing in the last corner. Well, he
could play and even raise his fist ;) Some more room the bass
player had, having much fun, fooling and posing around, as Mikkel
did too ;) Well, the guitarists had to see how to push themselves
in the foreground for some more attention… hehe. Anyway,
much better show than in February!
Setlist: New Desire, Bloodsong, My Secret Window, Embrace
The Nothing, World Hate Center, The Endless Fall, 11 Dreams
Ok, well…
the lights were hardly turned off as everybody was pushing towards
the stage for the first row and didn’t give way any millimeter
no mores. Not even a mouse would have come in between. ::
DEATH
ANGEL :: meanwhile took it easy, waiting a little
bit longer before to get onto stage, what gave more time to the
fans to heat up ;) Worked successfully. As soon as only a tip
of a nose was spotted on stage crow freaked completely out. Introducing
with Lord Of Hate from the brand new album Killing
Season, DEATH ANGEL delivered a 90 minutes running
show of almost all new songs (except one) and also a best of retro
through all records with a second focus on the 87 debut The
Ultra-Violence. Armed with a bottle of clear booze (a
present from fans I guess) charismatic frontman Mark Osegueda
always looked for getting in touch to the crowd and was grinning
like a Cheshire cat for the immense response he got. He in fact
claimed of still having jetlag in the bones, but that’s
nothing you got aware while the cats were running and jumping
on stage. They in fact played their soul out of the body and gave
everything they could. DEATH AGEL truly is an amazing live
band and it’s always a hell of fun seeing them performing
live. Yes, I have seen better shows of them, but hey, tonight’s
one was great too ;)
Setlist: Lord Of Hate, Evil Priest, Buried Alive, Dethroned,
Carnival Justice, Voracious Souls, When Worlds Collide, Soulless,
Sonic Beatdown, Seemingly Endless Time, The Devil Incarnate, God
vs. God, Steal The Crown, 3rd Floor, Kill As One // Resurrection
Machine, Thrown To The Wolves
Yeeesss, that
was definitely a great evening, but the real fun just started
afterwards *lol* Besides that singing and swinging of different
songs I witnessed funny exchanges of words and word games between
the Italians, Austrian and Danish guys. The Austrian cats even
tried to teach the Italian ones some cusses. Didn’t came
out of laughing and it got even worse, when the Demolition guys
smokes some intoxicating stuff and Mr. Rapp started laughing and
giggling. He couldn’t stop and made us snorting with laughter.
Demolitions Janos topped that with a fucking straight Michael
Jackson performance, while all the other guys were moving equipment
for- and backwards, till they finally got everything into the
buses. Did they? *lol* Anyway, I haven’t laughed that much
at or after a show for a long time. I even had muscle aches next
day ;) Thank you all, I’ve been having a blast this evening!
Just go and catch your date of fun and heaviness! Don’t
miss this show! Cheers!
