The keeping of amphibian rodents in this city is totally illegal!
[Dajana] The Saturday started with a stormy interlude. But organizers had learnt from the storm in 2011, which destroyed the stage on Friday, and immediately started with safety precaution and extra tensioning ropes (stage traverses got generally improved and strengthen since then). But the camping area was the one that did not get off lightly. Especially pavilions were broken and destroyed. Luckily – at least as far as I know – no people suffered injuries.

[BRT] I once again do not know how I lie in my tent and why I got there (or vice versa?)… The breakfast express is merciless and commits me to get my circulation-put-into-operation-routine running way too early. I make it to the breakfast tent but it’s not enough to make it to NOCTURNAL and MUMAKIL.
[Dajana] Then I take over… as I was bright-eyed and bushy-tailed again. Not to be fucked up pays off ;) Hehe… Ok, not that much to say about :: NOCTURNAL :: Just saw them playing Rock Hard Festival a couple of weeks ago. It’s still rumbling 80’s Thrash Metal. Enthusiasm for them is probably a sole thing between male fans and Mrs. Tyrannizer (vocals) ;)

[Dajana] Grindcore the second. :: MUMAKIL :: are technically highly sophisticated and brutal but way too serious, too tough this morning but makes me looking forward to Napalm Death ;) Beer anyone? Shopping? Ah, yes, shopping… good idea…

[BRT] This I call Bathory-whorship to the max. It is still too early, way too bright but :: EREB ALTOR :: convince all along the line with such great songs as the Bathory cover Blood Fire Death.
[Dajana] Ha! NOW we can talk about epic hymns and stunning songs! (wtf is Atlantean Kodex?) That’s the way it has to sound! Goose bumps all over…

[BRT] Yo, :: PROTECTOR :: well… never ain’t me. But was a solid show though.
[Dajana] Seems I missed the fact that PROTECTOR reunited ;) That’s German Thrash Metal veterans and those guys were part of my very first metal concert after “switching the iron curtain” (on Nov 27 in Düsseldorf with Rage, Risk, Mona Liza Overdrive and Pink Cream 69 - *laughs*). Singer Martin Missy was in best shape and pulling faces all the time for great shots ;)

[BRT] Why I did not see :: IMPERIUM DEKADENZ :: ? I absolutely have no clue…
[Dajana] And they were really good. Sophisticated German Black Metal, maybe a bit elitist.

[BRT] :: KAMPFAR :: never fails. It is just an awesome live band and get fronted by a charismatic singer. The Norsemen defy sun and wind and deliver an asskicking show. Once again.
[Dajana] I much more would like to know what those guys had in their coffee… Dolk is even more talkative as he is known for and bass player Jon permanently smiles. He smiles! WTF? There's something fishy here. Oh, by the way, KAMPFAR of course played a stunning show!

[BRT] All systems down. After all those highs the low was supposed to come. Batteries are flat, motivation near zero. That’s why my interest in :: MALEVOLENT CREATION :: is as big as in a sewing machine. This band is lacking of everything: recognition value, great songs and melodies… As for that they have lots of flabbiness, monotony and an uncongenial factor. I mean, I did not try it only once… Nope, we won’t be friends.
Setlist: Slaughterhouse, Manic Demise, Malevolent Creation, Eve Of The Apocalypse
[BRT] Same feeling with :: AURA NOIR :: Norwegian Black Metal combined with Teuton thrash… Just rushes past.
[Dajana] I once again listen to those bands from afar in a rather comfortable position ;)

[BRT] :: GRAND MAGUS :: enter the stage at the right time. Incomprehensible, that there are people outside who can’t take pleasure in their epic hymns. Well, the Swedes meanwhile played at every corner, but hey, there is no boring routine to sense out. With tracks such as Steel vs. Steel, Triumph And Power, I, The Jury and of course Hammer Of The North GRAND MAGUS play mostly hits. And also this show is way too short again. Before I can complain and take a photo with them my all-time faves Napalm Death are ready to burn stages.
[Dajana] I must confess I already have seen better GRAND MAGUS shows. JB somehow seemed to stand beside himself, missed his cues, and was hardly to hear generally. But Mr. Fox outweighed, took over most of the singing parts and made this show being freakingly awesome. Almost every song was sung along by the crowd.
Setlist: I, The Jury, Sword Of The Ocean, On Hooves Of Gold, Ravens Guide Our Way, Like The Oar Strikes The Water, Iron Will, Steel Versus Steel, Valhalla Rising, Triumph And Power, Hammer Of The North

[BRT] :: NAPALM DEATH :: has just been awesome! A highly energetic show with the most congenial jumping hob. His vokills just made me smile like a Cheshire cat. With Breed To Breathe, Self Betrayal and Unchallenged Hate (the first song ever I heard from then) my favorite tracks got zapped around my ears. Great! The attempt to headbang along all songs was rather unhealthy…
Setlist: Multinational Corporations, Part II, Silence Is Deafening, Unchallenged Hate, Suffer The Children, Breed To Breathe, Success?, Social Sterility, Self Betrayal, Scum, Life?, Deceiver, The Kill, You Suffer, Nazi Punks Fuck Off

[BRT] That such a show can hardly be topped goes without saying. But :: KATATONIA :: can do! It’s of course the complete opposite musically. It’s a very quiet, a very emotional and atmospheric performance, while the night is closing in. You can’t elude them. It’s exceptional, brilliant and live here and tonight even better than on their great CDs.
[Dajana] Yep. I agree. Totally. It’s magical. Mesmerizing. KATATONIA play with delight and passion (must be the two new band members) and Jonas Renkse is talkative as never before. AND… KATATONIA play a song from their very first EP Jhva Elohim Meth... The Revival (Without God). Wow! Did someone already mention that this show was AWESOME? Definitely my highlight of the Saturday!
Setlist: Buildings, Forsaker, Dead Letters, Ghost Of The Sun, Soil's Song, My Twin, July, Lethean, Without God, Murder

[BRT] To be honest, I did not expect that much from :: OBITUARY :: I did not listen to them for ages, neither did I seem playing live as of late. But… I so got surprised. OBITUARY had a lot of fun on stage and played a great best-of set. I urgently need to dig their old records again.
[Dajana] I have seen OBITURARY playing live quite often lately and knew that would nothing leave but scorched earth. I expect the best. And I wasn’t disappointed :) Same procedure… PARTY SAN OPEN AIR got razed to the ground. What a show! I’m soooo looking forward to the new record.

[BRT] :: KREATOR :: are always a force live on stage. But after this weekend batteries are flat and the extra long change over gets on nerves. What got stuck in my mind was the stupid announcement Mille made. He is known for talking a lot of bullshit, but to demand more brutality in the mosh pit… that’s outrageous. Boa hey, Mille, just shut up! Ah, damn, I know, then it lacks the entertaining factor…
[Dajana] *coughs* … “…and now I wanna see more brutality and violejnce in the mosh pit…” and “…I want total destruction…” Well, I thought, Mille would have learnt from the highly embarrassing statements and interviews in the past. He seemingly did not. On the other hand… such statements perfectly suit the songs from the setlist ;) However, the stage scenery was really impressive. KREATOR used a lot of pyros, CO2 jets and all kinds of tinsel and confetti. It was entertaining, indeed. And a force, musically. As said…
Setlist: Mars Mantra, Phantom Antichrist, Coma Of Souls, Pleasure To Kill, Riot Of Violence, Enemy Of God, Violent Revolution, United In Hate, Flag Of Hate / Tormentor
[BRT] Over and out…
[Dajana] Yep, that’s that. The PARTY SAN OPEN AIR 2014 is over. I’m happy, totally knackered and full of melancholy. Time to say goodbye, once again. And that… quickly… as the Sunday starts cold and rainy.
[BRT] Our morning departure is like an escape. Brrrrrr… how dismal. But, pleasant anticipation immediately comes up for the PARTY SAN OPEN AIR 2015 :)
[Dajana] Ah, yessss. What a great weekend. It can’t be any better. The PSOA festival is the best one on earth! And of course, we can hardly await to crush into this place again next year at the same time ;) First bands got already announced: BEHEMOTH, ASPHYX, MORBUS CHRON, RUINS OF BEVERAST, FÄULNIS and NOCTURNAL WITCH. Nice beginning… See you next year at PARTY SAN OPEN AIR 2015!
[BRT] Great it was, indeed! Thank you tons!!!
