Cologne
second. After Devin now my all-time heroes WARRIOR SOUL.
Damn it, already two years have passed since I saw them playing
live last time. Tonight the band kicks off the “mainland”
part of the European tour. And this night was maybe not ill-fated
but stress-fated ;)

I again was
caught in many traffic jams and actually arrived too late at the
• Underground
•. I was scared to miss the support band. But hey…
WARRIOR SOUL knew to top this. Their airplane was delayed,
then those traffic jams they had to go through too and, as I heard,
two members were from Spain traveling by train due to strikes.
To cut the story: instead of the announced show time 7.30 pm first
band entered the stage 9.30 pm. Means, waiting, talking, coffee,
waiting.
Time has come
and finally :: AC
ANGRY :: kick off their set. To be honest I find
the band’s name… goofy. Even for such kind of Rock’n’Roll
band. As I learnt the band changed its name just one year ago
(from formerly Taletellers, where they were put into the Medieval
drawer). Okay, that makes sense, but AC ANGRY? Hmmm…
However, musically there was nothing to nag about at all. The
cats really did a great job, music the way I like. The few attendees
needed a bit more time to get along with the band and the music.
Songs came from the debut EP Booze Horse and the
upcoming first full-length Black Denim (out in early
2013). Yep, was cool. Successful warm-up ;)
Setlist: Motor, Rock'n'Roller Roller Rolla!, Sadictico,
It’s Good To Be Bad, Booze Horse, Black Denim, Get It On,
AC Angry
It still took
some time till :: WARRIOR
SOUL :: were ready to kick asses with Interzone.
On the first sight it felt like watching a WARRIOR SOUL
tribute band, fronted by Kory. All other faces were new to me.
Maybe it was too difficult to get the Swedish-British co-op together
(as Kory lives anywhere else too), or things have significantly
changed. But if a Spanish-British co-op works better regarding
rehearsals and stuff, I’m not sure. However, Kory is the
man and he was brimming of energy, infected everybody around.
Mood was fantastic, the fans thrilled. I though had the feeling
that one or two more rehearsals would not have done any harm.
Korys voice sounded as fucked up as usual but still charismatic
and with an unbelievable charm. He’s someone you cannot
escape and elude. Therefore fans (almost literally) lie to his
feet, cheer and adore him, screaming girls included. With Junky
Stripper and A Drink To All My Friends (perfect party
song) the brand new album Stiff Middle Finger gets
introduced, in Germany in stores on November 16. Sadly, sadly,
this new piece was not available at the merch. But let me recommend
this album ;) At the end of the show guitarist Chevy had a string
broken but no replacement, no strings, no guitar, so he took over
Jason Austins (who then left the stage) guitar and finished Fuck
The Pig, the first encore, which now sounded really…
odd and was the very last song. Actually no drama since it was
already late. But yeah, who can get enough of WARRIOR SOUL?
;) Kory instantly appeared at the merch signing tour poster and
talking to the fans. For me it was time to go home now.
All in all I have to say I already have seen better shows. Around
75 fans attended, many left due to the delay, because it's difficult
in Cologne to go home by public transport from a certain time
on. It somehow feels like the band’s Indian summer is over…
