Melancholic Seasons |

Groovy and powerful, MELANCHOLIC SEASONS burst forth after a threatening intro and the mood implied in the band's name is rather subliminally drawn like a patina over the forward-pushing compositions interspersed with successful leads. A dark rumbling voice characterizes the varied mixture of English and German lyrics, the choruses have partly earworm potential, but sound by no means penetrating or deliberately catchy. The effective leads and solos rather stand out like shimmering shades of color, and fortunately the musicians did not forget about dynamic tempo changes.
Accordingly, variably arranged, for example the hit A New Identity (Graves In Mind Pt.2) inspires all along the line with effective time changes, rousing epic and wonderful grooves - this is how down-to-earth, honest and kitsch-free metal must sound!
With the German-snapped Narbenkleid the artists add a few briquettes and present themselves with increased aggression and nasty growls just as sovereign and inspiring.
After a multitude of riffs, adrenaline and shimmering guitar power, things get really emotional later during the forward-pushing I Am December (Autumnsphere Pt.2): here the band pays honorable tribute to their recently deceased singer Björn.
The strong drums in the course of Dear Mr.Silence demand applause and the bass is allowed to take the lead for a short time, showing another playful facet in the band's repertoire.
Two new recordings round off this energetic album, which, in addition to a lot of earthy power, is able to offer playful subtleties and perfectly placed beat and mood changes.
