With the bands
self-produced and self-titled album Swabian REMEMBER TWILIGHT
could land a deal now releasing their label debut Zerrissen.
And it’s worthy to risk more than just one ear! This band,
entitling its own style as Chamber-core music, attracts attention.
First it all might look like another medieval band, but bagpipes
you won’t find and the entire musical approach is completely
different. REMEMBER TWILIGHT sound heavily metal,
even punky, and what gets delivered by the two violins and oboe
doesn’t have to do anything with usual medieval clichés.
Opener Der Wahnsinn lebt (already known from the demo
2003) emerges as highly enjoyable; powerful, dynamic and varied,
with interesting melodies and a hymn-like refrain. Singer reminds
me of German band Die Schinder, but acts significantly more diversified.
Following Chaos der Ängste almost blasts your head
away, distinctly crossing the border to Thrash Metal. Respect!
That I didn’t expect … Classic instruments gets equally
included in the song structures. They are not just accessories
or used as effects once in a while. Though, despite of a good
production, they sometimes slip a little into the background.
Another highlights on Zerrissen have
to be Kein Gesicht, the epic Vermächtnis der
Nacht and the 8 minutes running Wirklichkeit verstehen.
Just the Ärzte cover version of Dein Vampir drops
off, since its heavy and hectic realization doesn’t suits
the song in my opinion. Lyrics are mostly interesting but surely
not made for everyone. At least they get around the trivial blah
blah, many bands so like.
At the end it is quite easy for me to certify a well-done work
for REMEMBER TWILIGHT and 8 points is not a too
high score.
